Aims of the activities
Through our various activities, we aim to enhance the development of interpersonal skills :
- Non judgmental awareness of one’s own preconceptions and attitudes,
- Awareness of the difference between one’s values and one’s actions and the tensions that might arise as a result,
- Develop ways to enhance communication skills to improve flexibility and clarity with oneself and others.
Activities :
- Play out difficult situations which allow the audience to reflect on the problems shown on stage. The role plays contain a physical, emotional and intellectual dimension.
- Speaking to a group; the discussion of people’s personal interpretations, in a safe, well managed way, is the main method used to challenge one’s preconceptions.
- Interactive : the facilitator questions the audience on their observations and interpretations and invites them on stage to “change the world” and to change themselves. That’s forum theatre!
- Involving the « experts » who are able to offer the theory behind the events, challenge the preconceptions of others using factual information from studies, statistics, surveys, experiments, etc.
- Events are run according to the ideas developed by the American philosopher Ken Wilber. He believes that learning is global and that it involves a physical, emotional and intellectual dimension and alternates between physical warm up activities, concentration and relaxation, communicative and imaginative games (inner journey, visualization with music etc.) time to speak, theoretical input and role play.
The ideology that underpins our work is set out in the Etincelle Charter.
Our involvement can be in the form of interactive conferences, forums theatre, training, analysis of current practice or discussion groups.
